Installation FAQ

What does your access control system installation service include?

Historically, we have mainly worked on systems that are already installed or added maglocks to an existing system, though we can also install new systems.

Atomic ensures access is tied into the fire alarm system so that the doors release upon a triggered fire alarm.

How do you determine the best access control solution for assisted living and healthcare facilities?

The majority of assisted living facilities we’ve served for decades use older-style access control systems.

We can also install modern systems with HID card readers; however, the majority require a code.

One facility we serve uses bracelets for its patients. When a patient goes near a door, the door automatically locks to prevent the patient from getting out.

In general, access control systems are intended to keep outsiders out of the building. However, a nursing home does both – keep outsiders out and keep high-risk patients from escaping.

What types of access control systems do you install, and what are the available technology options?

We install mostly wired access control systems for Oklahoma facilities, though we can also install wireless and cloud-based systems, including timed doors (ex: doors that lock after business hours and holidays), keypads, and badges.

How do you integrate access control systems with existing building security or door entry systems?

Integration with door controllers, proximity card readers, and video intercoms for seamless security management are more common with cloud-based systems. There are systems we can install where the user codes are programmed online.

What are the key installation standards and regulatory requirements for access control in assisted living and similar facilities?

Assisted living facilities use access control to keep residents inside for their safety. Access control systems must automatically release during a fire alarm. We ensure every system is properly integrated with the fire alarm to meet all code requirements.

How long does a typical access control system installation take, and what factors influence the timeline?

It depends on the size of the building. Contact us for a quote and estimated installation for your building.

What is the estimated cost for installing an access control system, and what factors affect pricing?

The estimated cost depends on the brand the customer chooses and the features they want in the system.

Access control is a system where you get what you pay for. The more it costs, the more features you get.

Can you assist with installation of specialized access control solutions for healthcare settings, such as secure entry for restricted areas?

Maintenance FAQ

What does routine maintenance for access control systems involve? How often?

There’s no routine maintenance standard in access control.  Most common issues we’re called out to resolve involve how the system was installed:

  1. Wires become loose/disconnected
  2. Programming errors
What troubleshooting and repair services do you offer if an access control system is not working properly?

We have emergency service and regular service to assist with repairs.

Contact emergency service if a door is locked and staff cannot get out or if a patient could escape because it’s unlocked.

Do you provide on-site maintenance and repair services, and can I find access control service providers near me?

Yes, our alarm techs are also licensed for access control. If something is going on with a mag lock and it is tied into the fire alarm, they are licensed to troubleshoot both trades.

Contact us for maintenance and repair services anywhere in Oklahoma!

How do you document and report maintenance activities, and will I receive a maintenance checklist or schedule?

We list what we found in our service reports, which are sent to customers after the service call.

How can upgrades or system enhancements be integrated during routine maintenance?

Cloud-based system updates can reduce bugs and issues in the programming. The manufacturer usually notifies us when a system requires updating.

What support do you provide for emergency repairs or when access control issues affect critical areas in the facility?

We have an emergency on-call tech 24/7. The licensed tech will walk you through the issue, and if it is deemed an emergency, a tech will be dispatched quickly to resolve the issue.
